What can I do with a minor in Women's Studies?
A minor in Women’s Studies provides a strong preparation for graduate study in business, education, humanities, or social sciences. Many graduate programs offer concentrations or degrees in gender/women’s studies and the undergraduate minor would give you an advantage.
A Women’s Studies minor is a great preparation for the study of law, medicine, or other professional degrees. We offer courses in Women and the Law and Employment Discrimination Law, for example, and other courses cover areas of women’s health, women and work, and general background on professional women’s issues. Professional schools often look favorably on applicants with broad interdisciplinary training in such areas as Women’s Studies.
A Women’s Studies minor is also an advantage on the job market! Women’s Studies minors go into a variety of careers in such areas as social services, education, nonprofit organizations, human resources management, and business. Our minors are prepared for jobs requiring critical thinking, good writing skills, and knowledge of issues relevant to women and minorities in society.
But the best reason is this: We offer great courses in an interdisciplinary program, taught by some of the best professors in the university. Check out our course offerings and feel free to come in and explore the possibilities of being a Women’s Studies minor! For an appointment, contact the Director, Women's Studies.
