Shimizu is Associate Professor of Film and Video in Asian American Studies and Affiliate Faculty in Film and Women’s Studies at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her talk, which is based on her book The Hypersexuality of Race: Performing Asian/American Women on Screen and Scene (Duke UP, 2007), will focus on the representation of Asian American women in 1930s Hollywood, 1930s and contemporary pornography, and Asian American feminist films. This talk will include a presentation containing graphic sexuality and the portrayal of sexual acts, and is open to those over the age of 18 only.
